Ward CNC releases Hartford 5A-650 5-axis machining centre

With a gantry-type structure and integrated swivel rotary table, Hartford’s 5A-650 5-axis machining centre features modular design principles that allow users to select varying spindle head and tool magazine options.

Available in the UK from TW Ward CNC Machinery, the machine has a work envelope of 660 by 550 by 460 mm and can accommodate loads of 300 kg. A 25 rpm, 650 mm diameter table on the fourth/fifth axis unit can handle loads of 200 kg, while B-axis movement is +110 to -50° (C-axis rotation is 360°).

As standard, the machine offers a 12.5 kW direct-drive spindle head and has rapids of 30 m/min plus a 24-tool ATC. Furthermore, the 24,000 rpm ‘i-Tech’ spindle is supported by the gantry-type construction that is based on double-wall columns of spheroidal cast iron. Importantly, when used in 3-axis mode, the workpiece remains stationary on the base, so loads remain constant.
