Proto.max solid carbide milling cutters from Walter GB are now available in a wider range with the addition of the company's ConeFit interface. This complements their supply in Weldon and cylindrical shank versions.
The cutters can now operate at lower vibration levels due to improved differential pitch but also with softer cutting action thanks to optimised micro-geometry. Featuring a 50° helix angle and four cutting edges, plus TAA coating, the cutters have internal through-coolant and are beneficial on stainless steel and nickel alloys – tests have shown a 50% increase in tool life compared with conventional tooling, says Walter.
Proto.max cutters are available in diameters of 10 to 25 mm, with or without corner radius, and are designed for a range of pocket milling, inclined plunging and contour milling tasks. The ConeFit short adaptor features planar support face and thread, and has an interface size of E10 to E25.
