Walter GB has launched the Walter Titex XD70 deep drill for depths up to 30XD as standard and up to 70XD as semi-standard. These depths can be drilled in one operation and without the need for ventilation.
The drills for 16, 20, 25 and 30 times diameter are based on Walter's Titex Alpha 4XD geometry, while X.treme DH (deep high tensile) versions have been optimised for high tensile material machining and interrupted cuts at depths of up to 20 and 30 times diameter.
A number of XD features permit the generation of such deep holes without ventilation and in a single operation. These include an innovative method of solid carbide blank production for the consistent manufacture of high integrity long solid carbide twist drills, a special grinding process and the use of internal coolant channels that do not rely on equipment like external high pressure systems.
The Walter Titex XD70 technology is currently offered in diameters from 5 to 12 mm.
