Walter Supreme mills double cutting speeds and tool life

Thanks to the newly developed WK40TF cutting material combining carbide substrate with a titanium aluminium nitride coating, the Supreme MC326 shoulder/slot mill and MC726 routing mill from Walter GB are said to offer up to double the tool life of their predecessors and up to 100% increases in cutting speeds. The cutters can tackle most milling routines on most materials, but are especially suited to steels (ISO P), says Walter.

The productivity gains are achieved by the application of a high cobalt carbide substrate that is less susceptible to vibration and prevents chipping along the cutting edge, plus the use of a newly developed TiAIN coating and a rear cutting edge having a reinforced core. Both ranges feature a 50° helix angle and are available in diameters from 2 to 25 mm with three, four or five cutting edges.
