Walter Helicheck software enhancement for tap measurement

Taps have now joined the range of round tooling that can be measured automatically on Helicheck tool inspection machines available from Walter Ewag UK, part of the United Grinding group, with the result that measuring times and the need for skilled labour input is reduced, says the company.

Enhancements to the Helicheck's Quick Check Modular (QCM) measurement software mean that all relevant tap parameters can be measured, including pitch diameter and flank angle, thus eliminating the need for dedicated, hand-held inspection routines that depend on skilled inspectors and manual data logging. Tools can be measured on the Helicheck either by probe or via cameras, with QCM providing 'parameterised templates' that contain tool-specific data such as chamfer length, nominal diameter, thread pitch, neck length, first tooth position and flank angle.
