Walter GB taps offer cast iron savings
The Prototyp Paradur ECO-CI tap from Walter GB offers thread generation in cast iron workpieces to depths up to 3.5 times diameter.
The tap undergoes an innovative Xtra.treat surface treatment process, which complements the tool's TiCN multi-layer coating. The resulting edge hardness increases the tap's resistance to abrasion, equating to higher operating speeds and longer tool life.
As standard; the Prototyp Paradur ECO-CI HSS-E-PM tap is available in a range of styles: M3 to M30, MF M6 x 0.75 – M30 x 1.5, UNC6 – UNC7/8, UNF6 – UNF 7/8 and G1/8 – G1.1/2.
The tap has a small rake angle to ensure optimum swarf removal and is able to accommodate dry machining. It is also available in designs having axial or radial coolant supply, as well as in a short chamfer variant for effective thread generation at the bottom of a drilled hole.
