Walter GB’s Color Select WKK45C inserts suit cast iron drilling

The introduction of a red-coloured indexable insert for Walter’s Xtra.tec B401x point drills not only designates that the insert is targeted at applications in cast iron (ISO K materials) but also acts as a wear indicator – any degradation in colour denotes that an insert change is needed.

Available in the UK from Walter GB, Color Select grade WKK45C inserts can be used to produce diameters from 12 to 29.77 mm for hole depths up to 7xD, and 18 to 25.80 mm for 10xD hole depths.

The inserts feature a multi-layer PVD coating developed to suit the specific requirements of drilling cast iron. This is said to counteract the impact of high temperatures, since its structure is thicker than that of conventional single layer coatings.

Walter GB offers a range of Color Select coatings on inserts for machining tasks across all ISO material groups.
