Vollmer unveils CAG200 gang saw sharpening machine

Vollmer’s CAG200 gang saw sharpening machine can accommodate blades up to 200 mm. The principle of the machine sees a grinding head moved by two CNC controlled axes over the saw blade, which is clamped over the entire surface. This permits the sequential grinding of each tooth in a single clamping arrangement.

Unlike alternative grinding machines, Vollmer says the CAG200 introduces a completely different generation of machine technology. While other manufacturers move the saw blade, the CAG200 clamps the whole blade for the 2-axis grinding head to move across the blade (the 2-axis head permits the processing of the tooth pitch, height and shape). The technique is said to minimise vibration, improve surface finish and guarantee precision.

The CAG200 is suitable for machining blades from 1.4 to 2.6 mm thick, with tooth length from 800 to 1,500 mm, and pitch from 15 to 40 mm.
