Vertical machining centre is rigid

With its patented T-base structural design the YCM TV Series of vertical machining centres has been designed to handle challenging machining requirements that demand machine rigidity and performance.

TheTV Series has been successfully used in a wide range of applications, from heavy roughing to precision mould and die machining, and there are two ranges – A and B. Able to accommodate loads between 1200 kg and 7000 kg, worktable sizes range from 1200 by 600 mm up to 2800 by 1020 mm, axis travels range from 1100 by 600 by 630 mm in X, Y and Z for the TV116A - the smallest machine - up to 2600 mm in X, 1020 mm in Y and 762 mm in Z on the largest, TV2610B. T he TV116A and TV146A models are powered by an 11 kW AC servo motor, with an 8000 rpm BT40 spindle fitted as standard. This spindle features dual oversized bearings for higher cutting rigidity and an optional two-step gear transmission provides 27 kgf-m of torque at up to 400 rpm, which is ideal for roughing hardened material. An optional 10,000 rpm spindle fitted with ceramic bearings can be specified for high speed finishing operations. A compact, fast and reliable 20-station umbrella-type direct access automatic tool changer (ATC) is fitted to the A Series machines. The B Series features a BT50 interface, an oil chiller to minimise the thermal growth, as well as more powerful spindle options. The standard 18.5 kW motor operates at up to 6,000 rpm through a precision ground gearbox and provides a maximum of 48 kgf-m of torque. On the TV2110B and TV2601B, the spindle power is increased to 22 kW and the torque is 57 kgf-m, resulting in a metal removal rate of up to 600 cc/min. The TV158B and TV188B can be specified with a high speed Isolated Direct Drive (IDD) oil-air lubricated 22 kW spindle featuring speeds up to 10,000 rpm offering a torque of 36 kgf-m. On the B Series a 32-station ATC, serviced by a swing-arm mechanism, can change tools up to 120 mm diameter by 350 mm long and weighing up to 20 kg each. Because the X axis is positioned under the Y axis, the TV Series requires between 20 and 30 per cent less floor space than other machines offering the equivalent travel capacities. The T-base also allows dual screw-type chip augers to be fitted to efficiently remove swarf out of the machine. Control options for the TV Series comes from the high performance Heidenhain iTNC 530 and the Fanuc 18M.
