Versatile vertical machining centre for high metal removal rates

The Huron VX 10 high accuracy vertical machining centre is designed for high metal removal rates in mould and die, fluid power and general engineering. It features a powerful 16.5 kW spindle providing cutting speeds up to 8,000 rpm, which is fast and powerful enough to machine a wide range of material. A high speed 12,000 rpm electro spindle can also be specified. Equipped with high precision P-class linear motion guideways on all three axes, the VX 10 offers an optimal balance between machining performance, rigidity and accuracy. The VMC has rapid feedrates of 24 m/min and acceleration of 5 m/s2 in all three axes, and a cutting feedrate of 10,000 mm/min. The heavily ribbed cast body absorbs cutting forces and reduces vibration. Larger than standard spans are used on the precision linear guideways to ensure stability and the Y-axis features four guides to increase the workpiece load on the table up to 800 kg. Generous axis travels are provided with 510 mm in Z and Y, while the X axis is an impressive 1,020 mm. The worktable is 1,200 by 500 mm and is able to accommodate very heavy or the multiple loading of smaller components. Productive machining is supported by a high speed 20-station disc type automatic tool changer (ATC) that changes BT 40 tools up to 80 mm diameter by 250 mm long and weighing up to 7 kg. The twin arm changer has a tool-to-tool change time of just 2.4 seconds with chip-to-chip achieved in 7 seconds.
