Turn-mill for cost-effective single hit machining

Turn-mill for cost-effective single hit machining

Fitted with a VDI 40, 12 station all-driven turret having ±40 mm y-axis feed with 16 mm tool shank size and M20 tapping capability, the latest SKT 210 SY integrated mill/turn centre from Hyundai-Kia has been developed for cost-effective single hit cycles for components produced from bar stock up to 65 mm diameter. This y- and c-axis su-bspindle machine has a maximum turning diameter of 240 mm diameter at the 15 kW, 4,000 rpm spindle that carries an 8 inch chuck as standard. The sub-spindle, fitted with a 5 inch chuck, is powered by a 3.7 kW motor giving 6,000 rpm and a rapid traverse rate of 36 m/min. Through bore diameters are 78 mm for the main spindle and 43 mm for the subspindle. In order to support milling and drilling cycles at both the main and subspindle positions, 0.001° spindle indexing is standard and a manual Q-Setter tool setting probe is fitted to speed toolchange and machine setting. Axis strokes are 220 mm in x, 550 mm in z, 750 mm in zb and ±40 mm in y. The driven tools are powered by 2.7 kW motor and the machine controlled by a Fanuc 18i-TB unit.
