Tornos Swiss GT 26 sliding head supersedes Gamma range

Following six years on the market, the Tornos Gamma is giving way to the Swiss GT 26. Although the Swiss GT 26 uses the same kinematics as its predecessor, the cast iron base offers greater rigidity through the use of reinforced guide components.

The GT series is made up of two models equipped with five or six linear axes. The platen on the 5-axis model comprises X1 and Y1 axes for bar turning, while the counter-spindle support carriage is mounted on two linear axes (X4/Z4). This enables it to take the workpiece to the tool and to move laterally opposite the block, independently of the counter-operation tools that may be fixed or rotating. The difference with the 6-axis version is that the counter-operation block has a vertical linear axis. This provides the advantage of being able to double the number of tools available.
