Sunnen’s SH-2000 suits job shop honing

Sunnen has introduced features such as digital spindle speed control, power-stroke speed and extra strokes on its SH-2000 job shop honing machine.

Featuring a Siemens PLC/HMI, the machine, in power stroke mode, is suited to the medium to high production of parts having bore diameters from 1.5 to 102 mm.

The 2.25 kW spindle drive delivers 200 to 3,000 rpm and is adjustable in fine increments, while the 0.75 kW stroker drive produces stroke per minute rates of 60 to 350 at stroke lengths of 6.8 to 170 mm. The machine's standard zero shut-off and optional automatic size control allow high production rates with precise control of bore size, finish and geometry, says Sunnen.

The SH-2000 can handle parts with multiple-land and tandem bores, keyways, splines, blind ends and thin walls, and can use all the same tooling as predecessor EC and ML machines.
