Micro bore finishing machine replaces honing

Designed for the manufacture of components with bores ranging from 2 to 20 mm, and particularly appropriate to the automated production of ceramic components in the medical, precision valve and aerospace sectors, the Engis Micro Bore is a flexible, small-footprint machine producing improved bore quality and fewer rejects. A high level of automation offers shorter cycle times and higher production rates, while reducing labour cost per part. Using the single-pass process, extremely tight tolerances can be held reliably and consistently in a production environment. In addition, when used in conjunction with the Engis diamond-plated and superabrasive bore finishing tools, the Micro bore system is capable of achieving bore geometries to within 0.5 micron in blind, semi-blind and through bores. The machine can processes two parts per cycle, and standard features include a servo-fed column design, 250 mm stroke, pneumatic index table, Mitsubishi full CNC controls and 19.05 mm diameter spindles, with pre-lubricated “for life” slides and ball screw mechanisms.
