Solide carbide milling development boosts tool life

Walter has applied the latest developments in carbide substrate, and micro- and macro-geometry to its Prototyp Protostar Qmax series of solid carbide milling cutters to offer improved performance, and in particular deliver extended tool life savings of up to 50 per cent for rough machining applications.

The application of new carbide substrate makes the new Protostar Qmax more wear-resistant, and a corner radius combines with micro- and macro-geometry improvements to encourage better chip flow and longer tool edge life. Walter has also expanded the new Qmax series with additional sizes within the HR Kordel F30, F 40 and F 45 range.
