Sodick's largest wire EDM machine

Sodick's AQ1200L Linear Motor driven wire EDM, its largest wire EDM machine to date, is suited to machining large components for sectors including automotive, aerospace and energy, as well as offering an ideal solution for large mould applications.

The AQ1200L wire EDM can handle a maximum workpiece weight of 4,000 kg with dimensions up to 1,600 by 1,200 by 400 mm. The EDM machine has travels in X, Y and Z axes of 1,200, 800 and 400 (or 600) mm respectively, as well as U and V axis travel of 1,220 and 820 mm. The EDM system employs a direct-drive, frictionless, vibration-free mechanism that is said to give unrivalled acceleration and positioning accuracy with no backlash, providing maximum precision. The AQ1200L EDM features a glass scale feedback to provide true machine positioning at all times, with the scales mounted on the moving axes, enabling them to consistently measure machine accuracy. Along with a host of standard features, including the environmentally-friendly recycle circuit (which saves on energy costs by recycling unused discharged pulses), and the electrolysis-free circuit (which eliminates oxidation and improves part straightness), the AQ1200L also comes with Sodick's 10-year positioning warranty.
