The Haas ST lathe range now includes a small-footprint Y-axis turning centre. The ST-10Y provides ±50.8 mm of Y-axis travel for off-centre milling, drilling, and tapping, and comes as standard with high torque live tooling and a servo-driven C-axis for versatile 4-axis capability.
Over recent years HAAS has developed its CNC lathes to perform milling operations in addition to traditional turning duties. The ability to turn and mill complex parts and perform multiple operations on one machine increases throughput, reduces handling, improves accuracy and saves floor space.
Allowing the Y-axis machine to cut all operations without additional set-ups also eliminates the opportunity for errors to arise when moving a component from one machine to another.
The ST-10Y lathe features a cutting capacity of 229 mm diameter by 356 mm length and a swing of 413 mm over the cross slide. It is equipped with a 6.5 in hydraulic three-jaw chuck and a 12-station VDI turret.
Standard equipment also includes high torque live tooling with C-axis, rigid tapping and spindle orientation, allowing the user to perform significant CNC milling operations off-centre.
Additional high productivity options available include a belt-type chip conveyor, a tailstock with hydraulic quill, an automatic tool probe, an automatic parts catcher, high pressure coolant systems and intelligent barfeed.
