Sandvik Coromant’s CoroTurn 300 enhances steel turning

CoroTurn 300 from Sandvik Coromant is aimed at the machining of low and high alloy steels, across a broad application area. The newly developed eight-edge inserts result in good heat transfer, thanks to a greater amount of bulk material per insert, while the reduction in the carbide content per edge has environmental benefits. In addition, more edges reduces the number of inserts required.

Inserts for steel machining are offered in both GC4315 and GC4325 grades, and in different nose radii – 04, 08 and 12 – while geometries available for finishing to medium turning operations are designated L4 and M5.

Used with either Coromant Capto interface C4-C8 or QS shank holders for quick tool change and easy coolant connection, a new clamping solution with a combined lever and wedge function results self-locking and self-locating of the insert in the tip seat.
