Sandvik Coromant’s CB7015 turning inserts suit transmission parts

With its CB7015 indexable insert, Sandvik Coromant says it is offering a cost-efficient, time-saving tool for turning case-hardened transmission parts.

CB7015 is a CBN grade suitable for turning case-hardened steels of 58-65 HRc. Thanks to the Safe-Lock clamping system and wear-resistant ceramic binder, the company says that the grade is suitable for dry machining applications.

The CBN product range from Sandvik Coromant includes inserts having standard corner radii and wiper inserts, as well as an Xcel version. The patented wiper geometry provides higher finish quality – roughness grades far below 3.2 micron can be achieved, says the company. What’s more, with Xcel geometries and feeds of 0.3 mm, roughness grades of 1 micron are said to be possible.
