Sandvik Coromant launches CoroMill 176 carbide insert gear hob

Sandvik Coromant has introduced CoroMill 176, an indexable full profile carbide insert hob for gear milling. The company claims that this solution can reduce cutting time by a half and more than double tool life compared to traditional high speed steel cutters.

The CoroMill 176 hobbing tool is available for roughing, semi-finishing and finishing operations for gear profile sizes in the module (pitch diameter divided by the number of teeth) 4-6 range. Custom made options with standard carbide inserts for gear profiles according to DIN3972-2, are also available for specific profiles with, for example, addendum modification and protuberance. The easy to use hob, which is registered in accordance with DIN3968 class B, features Sandvik Coromant's iLock interface for precision and stability.
