Sandvik Coromant backs performance of CC6190 ceramic against cemented carbide

Sandvik Coromant's CC6190 ceramic insert grade for CoroMill 490, productivity potential, it says, is two to three times greater than cemented carbide grades in cast iron and hardened steel.

Sandvik aims the CC6190 at medium-to-light roughing of grey cast iron components, as well as nodular cast iron and compacted graphite iron (CGI) in automotive part machining and general engineering. As well as the possibility of higher cutting speeds, the insert design with parallel land offers superior surface quality, says the company.
