Renishaw Primo LTS aids tool length setting

Renishaw has launched its Primo LTS (length tool setter), a single-axis tool setter that allows users to set tool length, check for breakage and compensate for thermal growth on a CNC machining centre.

According to Renishaw, automated on-machine tool length setting with Primo LTS is up to 10 times faster than time consuming and error-prone manual methods, and is suitable for use on both small and large CNC machining centres.

The Primo LTS monitors variables such as tool length and tool breakage automatically, enabling users to compensate accordingly. It is a hard-wired product featuring an interface for electrical connection: the hardware can be bolted on to the machine table and is immediately operational, requiring no additional set-up.

The Primo LTS is resistant to swarf or coolant ingress and prevents false triggers caused by shocks or vibration. An integrated air blast provides swarf removal, when necessary.
