Reime Noris introduces taps for high-alloy steels

Reime Noris is introducing a newly developed series of taps specifically for high-alloy materials which are hard to machine. The Noris Salorex VR HSSE-PM TiBlu range is available via UK distributor Hall Holmes & Co.

Conventional threading tools quickly reach their performance limits when machining high-alloy steels. High proportions of chromium, nickel, molybdenum and vanadium in these materials lead to extreme mechanical and thermal force on the cutting edges during tapping. Achievable tool life is therefore usually short and subject to strong fluctuations.

The Noris Salorex VR HSSE-PM TiBlu is designed to counteract these disadvantages. This special tap with high positive cutting geometry is made of HSSE-PM to achieve the greatest possible resistance to mechanical force and abrasive wear. The newly developed PVD coating TiBlu (Titan-Blue) offers further protection of the cutting edges, offering high hardness of 3,500 Hv and a dense and homogeneous structure. In combination with the specially adapted groove shape featuring a 45° helix angle, high process reliability and tool life are achieved for blind hole threads up to 3xD.

Noris Salorex taps are available in all common metric and UN dimensions, in normal chamfer form C and short chamfer form E.
