Protool unveils Carmex Mini Mill-Thread for small holes

To overcome common problems associated with small-hole threading, such as broken taps, scrapped workpieces and lost time, the Carmex Mini Mill-Thread available from Protool is based on a tri-flute, tri-tooth design and boasts a multi-layer TiAlN coating to give long working life.

For use on materials up to 62 HRc, Mini Mill-Thread is able to thread up to shoulders in blind holes and achieve internal threading from M1.0 x 0.25 (bore diameter 0.75 mm). The tool is available in two carbide grades. Carmex Mini Mill Thread MTS uses MT7 carbide grade, a sub-micron grade with TiAlN multi-layer coating. This is a general purpose tool for use on all materials which can be run at medium-to-high cutting speeds. The Mini Mill-Thread Hardcut MTSH is based on MT8 carbide grade, a sub-micron grade with AlTiN multi-layer coating. This grade is said to deliver high heat resistance and smooth cutting operation.
