Prima Power’s Laser Next aimed at auto parts

With the Laser Next, Prima Power has collaborated with customers and partners operating in the automotive industry. This has resulted in what the company describes as a fast, compact and efficient 3D laser for high volume automotive production applications. Productivity on a typical benchmark component (B-pillar) has been raised by 25%, it is claimed.

The Laser Next offers 208 m/min trajectory speed and 2.1 G acceleration. Some of the advances in machine design include direct drive motors and transducers for the main axes and focusing head. The footprint for the Laser Next is also significantly smaller, while the layout of the machine has been designed to allow for stand-alone and multi–machine configurations. Laser Next has a work volume of 3,050 by 1,530 by 612 mm and is equipped with a 3 or 4 kW high brilliance fibre laser.
