Open Mind provides synergy between CAM and CAD with hyperCAD-S

Open Mind Technologies says its hyperMill 2013 offers new features, extensive functional upgrades and greater ease of use. The most significant advance is the hyperCAD-S CAD core, which is matched to the hyperMill CAM solution. The core, graphics, database, user interface and API hyperCAD-S software designs are all new.

Open Mind decided to launch its own CAD solution for hyperMill, specifically designed for CAM machining and integrated closely with CAM-specific tasks. The hyperCAD-S core is user-friendly with imported data. Users can easily modify any of the geometry elements at any time. Curves and free-form surfaces are depicted using Bezier and NURBS geometries. As well as all the standard basic design elements, the core also provides a number that specifically aid CAM programmers, including toolpaths, polygon networks, point clouds and a rectangle element. CAD functions are tailored to the needs of hyperMill users. The system maps the mathematical definition of elements, such as cylindrical, level, free-form, rotary and other surfaces. This has allowed accurate filtering of NC programming according to specific elements. A clearly structured user interface does not rely on functions hidden from view. HyperCAD-S is a 64-bit system that offers a broader range of functions than the hyperCAD Geometric Engine. HyperCAD-S's Selection and Visibility exploits the 64-bit environment for extremely fast loading and execution times, even when working with very large models
