Open Mind develops programmer-friendly hyperMill CAM matched hyperCAD-S

Open Mind Technologies has developed hyperCAD-S, a CAD system matched to the hyperMill CAM system, which is designed to address the requirements of NC programmers.

hyperCAD-S has been redeveloped from scratch, with newly-designed architecture, core, graphics, database, user interface and API, and is integrated much more closely with CAM-specific tasks than hyperCAD, says Open Mind. The hyperCAD-S core is described as especially user-friendly when handling imported data and allows geometry elements to be easily modified at any time. Curves and free-form surfaces are depicted using Bezier and NURBS geometries. As well as all the standard basic design elements, the core provides a number that specifically aid CAM programmers, including tool paths, polygon networks, point clouds and rectangles. The user interface has been designed to accommodate the latest ergonomic considerations, based on the principle 'what CAM users want'. A clearly structured GUI does not rely on any hidden options. The first release version of hyperCAD-S will run in 64-bit. Open Mind says it offers a broader range of functions than the hyperCAD Geometric Engine and emphasises that the structure for Selection and Visibility has also been designed to meet user demands.
