NCMT launches Kaiser EWBD boring head
Kaiser Precision Tooling has unveiled its EWBD boring head, which is self-balancing and ultra-light, thanks to its aluminium construction. Available in the UK from NCMT, the EWBD is said to be suitable for deep bores which require long tool combinations. Typical applications include the boring of machine pedestals, gearbox housings, cranes and hydraulic manifolds.
The head includes what Kaiser is describing as the world's first PSC interface made entirely of aluminium. This means it is 55% lighter than standard steel boring heads, although the EWBD is also available in steel if required.
To enable high cutting speeds of up to 2,000 m/min, the EWBD is equipped with a self-balancing mechanism on its full adjustment range.
