Kaiser Smart Damper available from NCMT
The latest integrated Smart Damper damping system on Kaiser toolholding technology is now available in the UK from NCMT. Smart Damper is designed to eliminate vibration and boost productivity in deep-hole finish boring and extended-reach face milling applications.
Achieving enhanced surface finishes and improved metal removal rates, Smart Damper system is suitable for applications that require very long tools, such as gearbox machining. In a case example, a standard holder with a projection length of over 300 mm and boring bar diameter of 50 mm allows for a maximum cutting speed of 40 m/min when machining cast grey iron (GG30). Raising this speed to 60 m/min would cause terrible chatter results. However, according to Kaiser, Smart Damper enables speeds of up to 100 m/min without any chatter.
Designed for Kaiser's modular boring tools or for shell mill arbors, all models of Smart Damper offer through-coolant delivery.
