Oil-based forming lubricants leave a residue on components that can produce noxious gases when welded through. However, Solform Gel is said to not only minimise these fumes, but thicken under temperature. This reduces the amount of lubricant required, improves mandrel life and reduces scrap, says the company.
According to Millers Oils, the formulation also creates a better surface finish. The gel can be applied via the tube former's lubrication system or directly to the mandrel by hand.
