Miller Oils develops Solform 135 to eliminate degreasing prior to tube welding

Millers Oils has developed Solform 135 Gel, a completely oil-free lubricant that improves manufacturing efficiency by eliminating the need to degrease manipulated tubes before welding. The water-based non-drip gel replaces conventional oil and soap-based tube bending lubricants.

Chlorinated paraffins in conventional lubricants combine with moisture in the air to form hydrochloric acid that corrodes steel tubes after welding. The standard solution to the problem has been to include a degreasing stage in the production process. Miller Oils' Solform 135 Gel eliminates the issue entirely because it is water based so the tubes can be welded immediately after bending. Solform 135 Gel is suitable for assemblies such as exhaust systems. It can be used as supplied and is easily applied via the mandrel lubrication system, or hand applied direct to the mandrel. The gel formulation thickens under temperature, meaning less product is required while improving tool life and reducing scrap. The non-drip formulation was developed using Millers Oils' expertise in high temperature chain lubricants.
