Mastercam Design X5 enhancements include use of colour and feature patterning

Enhancements included in Mastercam Design X5 are in the areas of solid and surface analysis, patterns of solid features and assignment of colours to solid faces.

Analyse Draft Angle and Analyse Curvature enable the curvature of a surface to be analysed to identify undercuts and minimum radius. Surface and solid areas of a model can be shaded with user specified colours. Mastercam X5 Solids enables the user to create a pattern of solid features by selecting source geometry and producing multiple copies of it on a part, either in a grid (rectangular pattern) or around a centre point (circular pattern – or with a click on the graphics window – to place copies (manual pattern). The user can now also assign different colours to individual solid faces and features to simplify the selection of solid areas for toolpathing and other operations. Standard letter and number drill and tap sizes have also been added to all Mastercam calculable fields. This means that drill size diameters can be specified quickly and without consulting paper drill charts. Mastercam Design makes it easy to model and edit geometry. It also supports advanced geometry creation, including NURBS curves and surfaces, 2D and 3D associative dimensioning, surface extension, blending trimming, splitting, variable filleting and solid modelling.
