MachineWorks’ Polygonica enables OEMs to solve additive manufacturing problems

MachineWorks Polygonica Toolkit provides polygon modelling component software for industries such as CAD/CAM/CAE, reverse engineering, rapid prototyping, 3D printing and other 3D digital applications. The technology is capable of automating and greatly reducing time in the healing process of non-printable solids.

Based on MachineWorks' core algorithms, Polygonica performs Boolean operations such as automatic solid closing and self-intersection fixing with speed and accuracy. Other useful functions for STL manipulation such as slicing, geometry simplification, profile offsetting and arc fitting are also available. MachineWorks' toolkit has been integrated by software and hardware OEMs looking for a solution in simulation of material removal and clash and gouge detection in any type of CNC machining. It is suitable for anti-crash systems, complex machining and full machine simulation. Mike Nicholson, MachineWorks' sales director, concludes: "Makers of 3D printers don't think that repairing solids is their customers' problem anymore and they are taking an active role in trying to offer a software solution optimised for their hardware."
