LMT has developed a range of 5-flute endmill cutters for the cutting of titanium, nickel alloy, stainless steel and hardened tool steels. The tools are capable of being run at feed rates 20 per cent higher than the more widely used 4-flute tool designs.
Designated 5-Flute, the cutter can be used for slotting, profiling and semi-finishing applications.
The tool geometry incorporates variable flute indexing, which reduces chatter and vibration. Coating the geometry with the latest nano-grain carbide results in high transverse rupture strength and a greater in-cut tool life for applications involving demanding materials.
Tools are available in both coated and uncoated types, with a large selection of corner radii, neck and flute lengths. To complement the 5-Flute range, LMT's Onsrud division has also developed a special finishing range of tools with 10 flutes.
