Liechti 5-axis machine for small engine parts

Liechti's Go-Mill 350 – the smallest Liechti machining centre - is for use in the production of parts for smaller jet engines, with their short guide blades and compact impellers and blisks. It has a maximum envelope of 350 mm daiemeter by 350 mm part length and boasts axis acceleration of 0.5 G. The go-Mill 350 is a turnkey solution for job shops and OEMs involved in the manufacture of blade profiles for the aircraft and energy industries. It is based on a standardised design, with a vertical spindle travelling along a y- and z-axis, while the tool holder – with two highly dynamic torque drives – handles the two radial movements and the x-axis. The go-Mill 350 machining centre is a highly specialised unit: first, all axis movements are co-ordinated for simultaneous 5-axis machining of flow profiles, with their concave und convex curvatures and leading and trailing edges; second, Liechti ‘TurboSoft plus’ is a specialised CAD, CAM and NC software to allow the efficient programming of flow profiles; and third, Liechti supplies an extremely rigid workpiece platform, which can be optionally enhanced with a tailstock for 5-sided complete machining of turbine blades (including cutting to length, centring and machining the head). The go-Mill is equipped with a 30-piece tool magazine with HSK 63 tools. Also available as an option is the pallet rack – with 16 storage trays for turbine blades or eight trays for impellers and blisks. Other available options include integrated workpiece and tool measurement for quality control purposes. The milling spindle has a maximum speed of 20,000 rpm, 16 kW power and 82 Nm torque, and has been designed for roughing, semi-roughing and finish milling of turbine steel and titanium alloys or machining forged flow profiles.
