Kitagawa designs compact versatile Vax 125 vice with 5-axis machining in mind

Kitagawa's Vax 125 vice, which offers accurate clamping with 40 kN of torque, has been designed by the Japanese company as a solution in situations where compactness is important, such as on 5-axis machining centres. However, the unit is also suitable for multiple fixturing applications on 3-axis machines.

Available in the UK from 1st Machine Tool Accessories, the 256 by 154 mm body footprint Vax 125 can be equipped with an array of jaws, clamping inserts and other accessories. These allow nine different clamping arrangements to be configured. The vice can even be supplied with a built-in Kitagawa NC rotary table. Standard accessories include mounting bolts, a torque wrench and three socket screw wrenches. The Vax 125 clamping system can secure rectangular workpieces up to 150 by 188 mm or round parts up to 228 mm diameter. A toggle mechanism ensures that all kinds of materials from hard to soft can be secured without damage.
