Kennametal's KM4X 100 tool spindle connection is designed for use with the high performance milling and turning centres employed to process high strength, lightweight materials such as titanium alloys, Inconel, and the latest aluminium alloys.
The spindle connection – the interface between the machine tool's spindle and toolholder – ideally provides a torque and bending load capacity compatible with the machine tool's operating specifications. Kennametal's KM4X100spindle connection uses three-surface contact for improved stability and optimised clamping force distribution and interference fit. It therefore provides three times the bending moment resistant capacity of traditional tool systems, says Kennametal.
Often, a smaller KM4X connection, such as a KM4X100, will provide the same or better cutting performance of a larger connection. KM4X systems can also be used on multi-tasking, turning, machining centres and transfer machines in manual, semi-automatic, or fully automatic mode.
