Kennametal adds KM4X63 to spindle connection family

Kennametal’s KM4X heavy duty spindle connection family has gained a 63 mm sibling, one aimed at a broader machine tool platform. According to the company, the clamping strength, bending stiffness and speed capabilities of the KM4X63 are higher than virtually any other connection on the market: it comes ‘out of the box’ capable of delivering 38,000 rpm, which is higher than HSK-A, and nearly twice that of comparably-sized polygon-style toolholders. This is thanks to the mechanism of the KM4X, which comprises four ball tracks instead of two.

Kennametal, in fact, is continuing to expand this portfolio – the KM4X line-up now includes shrink-fit toolholders, HydroForce hydraulic chucks, TG and ER collet chucks, and a variety of other spindle tooling, clamping units and modular adapters. By the end of 2016, the company plans to add around 30 new line items.
