Available in the UK from ITC, the device damps vibrations and reduces chatter in deep-hole finish boring, thus achieving better surface finishes and improved metal removal rates, says the company.
Tests by BIG Kaiser have shown that deep holes free of vibration can be bored with impressive time savings. For example, with a projection length of 410 mm, and working with steel at a cutting speed of 450 m/min, a feed rate of 150 mm/min can be achieved.
The EWD Smart Damper has a large screen that shows the set diameter to an accuracy of 0.001 mm, thus helping to minimise operator errors and removing the need for Vernier markings.
The length of tool combinations can be selected up to a maximum of 10xD.
