High performance solid carbide reamers achieve precision holes

Dormer is offering a range of NC Solid Carbide reamers designed specifically for high performance precision reaming. The reamers are available bright and TiAlN coated in straight and spiral flute for machining blind and through holes. The flute geometry enables the reamers to achieve higher cutting speeds and feed rates - as well as considerably longer tool life - when compared to conventional DIN-standard equivalents. The extremely unequal spacing of the cutting edges has the additional effect of enhancing hole quality, with roundness variance reduced to just 1 to 2 micron. B460, B461, B463 and B464 are suitable for reaming in a wide range of applications and materials, even hard materials up to 63 HRC. B462 and B465 have been designed for reaming in stainless steel, and feature a TiAlN coating for resistance to ‘built-up edge’ and a more positive rake angle for improved cutting efficiency. All incorporate either axial internal coolant or lateral internal coolant to reduce temperatures and ensure efficient chip evacuation for a trouble-free operation.
