Haas reveals DT-2 and DM-2 drill-tap-mill machines

Haas Automation has expanded its drill-tap-mill product line with a pair of machining centres – the DT-2 and DM-2 – that offer an additional 203 mm of X-axis travel and table length for only a slight increase in footprint over the existing DT-1 and DM-1.

Both machines are identical in specification, except for the spindle taper and toolchanger. The DT-2 is a BT30 taper machine with a 15,000 rpm (20,000 option) in-line, direct-drive spindle and a 20+1 side-mount toolchanger. The DM-2 is a 40-taper machine with a 15,000 rpm in-line, direct-drive spindle and an 18+1 side-mount toolchanger. Both models allow rigid tapping to 5,000 rpm.

The DT-2 and DM-2 offer a 508 by 406 by 394 mm work cube, while the spindle on both machines features an 11.2 kW vector drive system that provides 62 Nm of cutting torque. Cutting feed rates for both machines are 30.5 m/min, with 61 m/min rapids.
