Five-axis workholding solutions

Schunk Intec has unveiled a range of 5-axis work holding solutions.

With its quick change pallet system, Schunk Unilock, operators set up work in parallel to the processing time. In a few seconds, during workpiece change, workpiece pallets with the Unilock interface are fixed, positioned, and clamped precisely - repeat accuracy of < 0.005 mm, holding forces are up to 75 kN. Application examples show that using the system can reduce set-up costs by up to 90%. For compact, sturdy and safe workholding, the centric-clamping device Kontec KSK has a large clamping range and can be used as a rough part clamping device and precision toolholder with a centring accuracy of 0.02 mm. It claimed to be the world's claimed the first completely encapsulated centric clamping device. With the modular changing jaw system, a wide variety of workpiece sizes and geometries can be safely clamped in the Kontec KSK. The system accommodates conventional clamping, small clamping depths, moulded parts, plates or workpieces with saw cuts. High supporting jaws can also feature, so that all sides of the workpiece can be reached without danger, even with standard tools. Clamping force can be up to 35 kN. For the 5-axis machining of round workpieces, the stationary manual Rota-S plus chuck can, thanks to its reversing top jaws, be rapidly switched from OD to ID clamping. The quick-change jaw system shortens the time for a complete jaw change to one minute. Rota-S plus has repeat accuracy of 0.02 mm, so that turned, soft jaw sets can be used repeatedly, and, as with the two Kontec clamping modules, Rota-S plus can be combined with the quick change Unilock pallet system.
