Fanuc Robot Connection makes combined CNC machine/robot control easy

With the new Robot Connection function from Fanuc, combined operation of machine tools and robots has never been so simple, says Fanuc.

For instance, robot status and program selection can be displayed and adjusted on the CNC screen: conversely, the robot screen displays CNC specific information and allows the user to access this information, maximising productivity and security. The new Robot Connection function is additional to a Fieldbus link and associated software, plus an FL-Net interface, which allows FL-Net functions to be easily integrated - an interesting feature, particularly for large installations involving multiple CNC controls and robots communicating with one another. The Robot Connection function improves things further. If the robot is set up in the system, the machine operator can use this function to call up a menu in the CNC control, which provides the operator with all the necessary information on the status of the robot, such as maintenance tasks or alarms. It can also select and load programs and activate the robot without operating a separate robot control directly. This saves time and enhances safety in the use of the robot. A menu in the robot operator console provides access to the machine tool controller. This feature is particularly useful for setting up the robot during the preproduction phase, as the programmer requires information on the status of the machine axes in order to identify potential conflicts ahead of time. The software also includes a user guide for the new functions, including sample menus and executable programs.
