EOS P 396 replacement for EOSINT P 395 reduces part costs

The EOS P 396 AM machine system for the production of parts from plastic powders, successor to the established EOSINT P 395, can make parts up to 30% more cheaply.

The EOS P 396, which becomes available globally from April 2014, is equipped with the latest generation 70 W rated CO2 laser and with completely revised temperature regulation enables double-digit increases in productivity. A reduction in secondary processing times is achieved by a number of features, including a low wear, high speed re-coater and a new point pyrometer that continually measures the temperature of the powder surface to a high degree of precision. This feature forms the basis for more stable regulation of the production process. The build capacity of the EOS P 396 is in line with that of its predecessor, at 340 by 340 by 600 mm. Improvements in energy and material consumption per manufactured component, however, has been improved, reports EOS, reducing operating costs and optimising carbon footprint. The EOSAME feature, which regulates energy input, is a central contributor to the further optimisation of components produced. The mechanical characteristics are standardised so that the quality of the part remains the same irrespective of its position within the build chamber, even at the highest fill levels. Plastic powder materials PA 2200 and PrimePart Plus (PA 2221) will be commercially available for the EOS P 396 from April 2014. Further materials will follow in several stages until all of the powders approved for the EOSINT P 395 are available.
