Drilling inclined holes made easy

The new CrazyDrill Crosspilot from Mikron Toolmachining makes the prduction of holes at an incline much easie

r. Until now this task has taken three operations - milling followed by centering and then drilling. CrazyDrill Crosspilot radically changes this process while also improving hole quality and accuracy. The drill has a 170° tip geometry that guarantees perfect centering conditions for subsequent drilling operations with an appropriate lead to avoid lateral hooking. The Crosspilot is a robust tool capable of withstanding high lateral forces, which reduces chatter and improves surface finishes. This new range of tooling can be used at 60° inclines on flat surfaces as well as inclined and eccentric holes on convex surfaces and inclined holes on concave surfaces. This is supported by the reinforced extra long shank that ranges from 50 to 80 mm to assure optimal clamping and access to the workpiece. CrazyDrill Crosspilot is available in diameters from 0.4mm to 4mm in 0.05mm increments with 4 to 6 mm cutters available in 0.1 mm increments. The cutting length of the Crosspilot increases from 1 mm to 15 mm in 0.125 mm increments.
