DMG Mori CLX350 single-turret, 51 mm bar (65 mm opt) CNC lathe

The CLX350 CNC lathe from DMG Mori occupies less than five square metres but is capable of turning components from bar of up to 51 mm diameter (65 mm optional), has a maximum turning diameter of 320 mm, Z-axis travel of 530 mm, a VDI 30 turret with 12 tool positions (all of which can, on request, be driven) and spindle speeds up to 5,000 rpm. A cartridge-design spindle means that exchange is simple and rapid.

Competitively priced, the machine can, says DMG Mori, produce complex components “to high accuracy, repeatability and surface finish, due in part to the lathe’s rigid construction and also to the use of IT1-class ballscrews”. Optimised chip flow helps maintain productivity and there is an optional chip conveyor, ideal for higher volume production environments.

The Siemens-based, DMG Mori SLIMline 19-in touch-screen control with bespoke software offers fast, simple operatio, together with advanced simulation possibilities and good ergonomics. Technology cycles offered, including Easy Tool Monitoring, make working with the CLX 350 even easier, the maker adds. The lathe can be supplemented with modular additions, including automated workpiece handling.
