Dormer has added the R571 CDX-DH to its range of solid carbide drills for deep hole applications. Capable of drilling up to 12x diameter in “one hit”, this addition complements Dormer’s R570 CDX-DH - designed for drilling up to 8 x diameter - introduced in 2007.
Both drills are available from 3 – 20 mm (1/8” – 5/8”), with further incremental sizes available on request. The R570 and R571 are said to offer exceptional levels of performance in a wide variety of materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, copper and aluminium.
Both also feature Dormer’s ACM (Advanced Chip Management) flute geometry and Super-Flow coating for high productivity and reduced cost per hole.
ACM optimises flute volume and breaks the chips into small, manageable pieces which are easily evacuated from the workpiece, reducing machine downtime.
The Super-Flow surface treatment on the CDX-DH range gives greater stability to the cutting edges, along with outstanding wear resistance and tool life due to its high levels of hardness.
Performance of the CDX-DH range is further enhanced by internal coolant holes which promote effective cooling of the cutting area and efficient swarf evacuation, enabling high speeds and feeds.
