Dassault releases SolidWorks 2017: more core power and performance, newly-developed capabilities

SolidWorks 2017 from Dassault Systèmes features more core power and performance, as well as newly-developed capabilities to address paperless manufacturing through the support of model-based definition. The latest tools are able to unlock any 3D model, allowing better collaboration with vendors and customers, while dynamic product data management (PDM) from concept through to manufacturing allows for stronger support of multi-site and remote teams.

Users can now improve collaboration by unlocking streamlined design workflows, thus removing barriers to third-party data. For instance, 3D Interconnect allows SolidWorks 2017 users to work with both neutral and native CAD data, such as updating part and assembly files when design changes take place with the ‘Update Model’ feature, directly opening imported files and treating them like base parts, or unlocking workflows from various sources to collaborate with customers and vendors.

Enhancements are also introduced to modelling power, surfacing, simulation and more.
