Dah Lih introduces its most compact 5-axis machine to date

The Dah Lih DMX-320 is the smallest 5-axis model in the range of a company known for the design and manufacture of C frame and portal type machining centres with large table areas.

The 2.85 by 2.8 m footprint Dah Lih DMX-320 5-axis vertical machining centre, available from UK distributor Ward Hi-Tech, features an extra wide column base as a solid foundation for precision machining. All major castings are designed using FEA (finite element analysis) software to ensure maximum machine rigidity and cutting accuracy, while the span on both the Z-axis and Y-axis linear ways also helps guarantee stability. Other build quality initiatives include the fact that the feed system on three axes is of separate construction which helps to reduce ballscrew length while ensuring exceptional rotational inertia during high speed cutting – 10,000, 12,000 and 15,000 rpm direct drive or built-in spindle options are available. A tilting and rotating table (0.001°) facilitates the fourth and fifth axes and features an intensifier design that eliminates the requirement for a hydraulic power unit. It needs only air to produce braking force. In addition, the tilting axis (+30° to -120°) makes use of a double-sided expansion brake for increased braking force while at the same time minimising vibration. The 320 mm diameter table can accommodate workpieces weighing up to 150 kg and is served by X, Y and Z-axis travels of 600, 550 and 500 mm respectively. Standard features also include a 24-station automatic toolchanger and a BT40 spindle.
