Coolant flush disc enables cooling directly on to the cutting edge

A coolant flush disc is available for use with the ERC nut in Rego-Fix’s ER toolholding system enables cooling and lubricating agents to be applied directly on to the tool’s cutting edge. This offers longer tool life and better chip removal. It makes the use of expensive cooling channel tools unnecessary for some machinging operations. The ER system consists primarily of a toolholder, collet, clamping nut, sealing disk and cutting tool. The sealing disk is intended for tools with internal coolant channels. The sealing disk is inserted into the clamping nut and levels with the front of the nut. An O-ring ensures perfect operation even when aggressive coolants are used. Furthermore, dust and chips no longer penetrate the collet slots. The coolants supplied by the system can be fed through the tool's coolant channels at a pressure of up to 150 bar, because the disc remains tight. This enables the coolant to be applied directly to the contact area of the tool cutting edge. The new coolant flush disk is affixed in the same manner as a normal sealing disc but does not have an O-ring. The coolant is fed through the nozzle ring along the tool shank to the cutting edge and thus goes precisely where the machining occurs.
